For London Borough of Camden
First phase completed, 2nd phase due on site

The redevelopment of an existing park to include a new building for the London Borough of Camden’s Sports and Leisure services and the Talacre Action Group. The proposals aim to create a robust community and recreation park, in an area where green space is scarce, and to include a high standard external sports pitch and a multi-use games area. These facilities will serve the both the local community and those specifically visiting the new Sports Centre.

This project is an example of Livingston Eyre’s considerable experience of actively involving the local community in the decision making process of design. Workshops and presentations allowed local residents to inform and guide the design process, culminating in a vote to choose one scheme from a number of options.

The first phase of the project, including the sports centre and all weather pitches, was completed in November 2002. The second phase, which includes new boundary railings and gates, footpaths, seating, tree and shrub planting, will complete the public open space and children’s play areas, is being completed by Camden Parks Department.
