Livingston Eyre Associates worked with Avanti Architects to design a new landscape for a therapy and research centre for The Children’s Trust, a registered charity dedicated to the long-term care and rehabilitation of profoundly mentally and physically disabled children.

The single-storey courtyard building set adjacent existing listed mature Cedar trees allows a range of landscapes to be created. Access throughout the site is by walkways between the buildings which are mainly covered. Small private gardens spaces nestle between these paths and the building allowing a protected view even when the weather makes access less attractive.

The couryard within the building is to be considered as another one of the therapy rooms access from the corridor which runs around it, looks and opens into it. The planting, like the classrooms, is arranged in groups and uses colour themes to add another level of interest, as a navigational tool and a element of fun throughout the site.
